We planned our first trip to Guana in 1998, after that it was history. We fell in love with the islands gorgeous scenery, white sand beaches, and most importantly the community that is Great Guana Cay. In 2000, we bought land and finished our house by 2004.
We enjoyed our time with our house until September 1st, 2019. On September 1st, 2019 Hurricane Dorian ravaged through Abaco with winds 185 mph, gusts up to 200 mph, and severe flooding. The hurricane caused catastrophic damage all over Abaco, including completely wiping away our beloved Sunkissed.
Since then, Abaco has made a tremendous comeback. Abacocians worked day and night to build back their home, even while struggling through the Covid-19 pandemic. We finished rebuilding our house and were able to move in by Christmas of 2022. While it’s still in it’s finishing touches, we couldn’t be more grateful to have our beautiful home and we can’t wait to share it and our love for Guana with you!

The Abacos is filled with new experiences and one of kind views. One of our favorites is the Hope Town Lighthouse on Elbow Cay, which is one of the last standing kerosene lighthouses in the entire world. You can’t stop at just the lighthouse, a day trip is a must! Another favorite is Man-O-War Cay, this small quiet island is filled with rich history, expert boat work, and it’s famous sail shop. Here you’ll meet 3 generations of townswomen making bags and hats out of canvas, which is traditionally used for the sail of a sailboat. Green Turtle Cay is lovely, The Green Turtle Club Resort & Marina, Pineapples Bar and Miss Emily’s Blue Bee Bar are by far our favorites. Pineapples has some of the best wings we’ve ever had and Miss Emily’s famous goombay smash is famous for a reason!
While island hopping head on over to the Manjack Cay Cove to feed/pet the sharks, stingrays, turtles, and fish. Or take a trip over to No Name Cay to pet the piggies! Tahiti beach near elbow cay is the perfect lagoon to spend your afternoon in, they even have a floating bar, The Thirsty Cuda. Our absolute favorite island hopping spot is actually only a short boat ride from Guana. It’s the Scotland Cay Cut, Scotland Cay is a small private island directly next to Guana. Ask a local for the directions on how to get to it, and you’ll find the perfect hidden lagoon.
